ENTRY 3
Chinese seal engraving   Iteration #2

This literation is really stressful due to the many different experiments that I have to do.

At first I have to choose the right ink and control the portion of water to transfer calligraphy marks to the stone.

If I directly write on the stone then my name after curving will leave an inverse imprint on the rice paper.

It works the same way as a stamp, if we curve a stamp the same way as we use to write or draw, then the stamp after being stamped on a paper will leave an inverse imprint.

                                    this is the failed example

so i had to grain it and restart

I have tried many times to do this and finally I received a successful result. Even if the inverse imprint is somewhat a little bit shallow, but because I had this pattern so I can use ink to trace the shallow lines. At last I am really happy of what it turned out to be.

  1. So far looks all good! I use to carve rubber stamp and it is really not my thing. I'm looking forward to see how you carve coz stone is quite hard right? Be careful of using the knife~

  2. It looks good! I love how you tried to show many experiments for outcome! And the outcome is great as well. I also wonder how could you balance your hand when you carved on that tiny wood.
